Mirno's Italian Job – Cinemedic debuts at SIMNOVA

Mirno were invited to the 2026 edition of Pediatric Simulation Experience by the University of Piedmont Orientale (UPO) in Novara, Italy. This is an event where Pediatric specialists from around Italy come to learn about, and take part in simulation with a variety of technologies and methods.

For this event, Mirno decided to make a special effort, developing two brand new pediatric patient archetypes from scratch, led by Mirno’s medical advisors in Sweden.

The first case ‘Matteo’ was developed by Hannah Sjöstedt, leader of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Sahlgrenska Hospital in Gothenburg. Matteo is a 7-year old boy admitted with an open fracture and various blunt trauma injuries. This case challenges the medical team to conduct a thorough assessment, recognition of deterioration, and make clear verbalisation of findings.

The second case ‘Luca’ was developed by Pontus Johansson, Consultant Neonatologist at South Älvsborg Hospital in Borås. A four-week old boy presents to the emergency department with a fever and unknown external signs. The team must respond quickly to his deteriorating state, demonstrating situational awareness and closed-loop communication.

As a new, never-seen-before way of doing simulation, Cinemedic was popular at the event. The Mirno team is grateful for the warm welcome from SIMNOVA, and we hope to visit again soon. Ciao!
